The SOKENDAI KEK Tsukuba/J-PARC Summer Student Program is a fully funded research internship in Japan hosted by the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) and supported by the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI). Participants will engage in hands-on research within active experimental, theoretical, or technical research groups at either the KEK Tsukuba Campus or the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) in Tokai. This includes work in particle physics, accelerator science, materials and life science, detection systems, and computational theory under professional supervision.
Eligibility
- Academic Level: Students in the latter half of undergraduate studies or the early part of a Master’s program (not PhD), as of March 1, 2026.
- Field Background: Knowledge in dynamics, electromagnetism, and quantum mechanics is desirable but not strictly mandatory; eligibility may depend on research group fit.
- Open to: Both international and Japanese students.
Benefits

- Fully covered international airfare arranged and paid by the program.

- Daily stipend: Approx. 1,500 JPY per day.

Note: Visa costs and medical insurance are not covered.
