CERN’s Entry-Level opportunities are designed for early-career professionals, recent graduates, and secondary-education diploma holders who want to begin their careers at one of the world's premier scientific and research organizations. This includes the "Origin Programme" and other “spontaneous application” roles in technical, administrative, engineering, IT, and support service fields.
✅ Who Is Eligible / Requirements
The programme categories and eligibility criteria are:
Profile Type Education / Experience Requirements
Secondary diploma profiles General secondary school diploma, with no more than 2 years post-graduation professional experience. Applicable to technical fields and support services (e.g. Finance, HR, Legal, International Relations).
University graduates (Bachelor’s or Master’s) University degree, with no more than 2 years of post-graduation professional experience.
Other general requirements:
Must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State for “Origin Programme” eligibility.
No previous similar contract at CERN for the specific Origin category.
Good technical, administrative, or professional skills depending on the specific role applied for.
🎁 What’s Offered / Benefits
A minimum monthly stipend of around 4,500 Swiss Francs (CHF) (net of tax).
Health insurance coverage (including for spouse/children, if applicable).
Membership in the CERN Pension Fund.
For eligible applicants: installation grant; family, child, or infant allowances; travel expenses to/from Geneva.
Paid leave: 30 calendar days per year.
Contract length is between 6 months (minimum) up to 24 months standard, with possible extension to 36 months depending on performance and funding.
On-the-job training + formal training opportunities.
