The University of Waikato Scholarships provide financial support for international students pursuing undergraduate or master’s degrees. This includes the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship, awarded to high-achieving students for full-time study in New Zealand.
Eligibility
- Open to all international students.
- Must be a new full-time student at the University of Waikato.
- Hold a conditional or unconditional offer of admission.
- Minimum GPA equivalent to B+.
- Not currently enrolled or previously paid tuition at the university.
- Not sponsored by an external organisation.
- Not for study abroad, exchange, or guaranteed credit programmes.
Benefits
- Tuition fee credits up to NZD $15,000.
- Undergraduate awards: $2,500–$15,000 depending on study duration.
- Postgraduate awards: $2,500–$15,000.
- Scholarships do not cover living expenses.
Deadline
No fixed deadline; applications can be submitted anytime after receiving an admission offer.

- Apply for admission to the University of Waikato.
- Receive a conditional or unconditional offer.
- Create or log in to a MyWaikato account.
- Go to the “Scholarships” tab.
- Select the relevant scholarship and submit the online application.
